Experience Award-Winning Seattle Craft Beer in Georgetown
The Beginning of Our Beer
It all started when two friends and craft beer lovers decided to create home-brewed beer in a basement. We'd share what we created with our friends and family, hoping that they'd like it. It took a lot of trial and error, but we finally got brewing down. Once we started getting the hang of brewing beer, it was time to open our own legitimate brewery and expand our business.
Lowercase Brewing is a mid-sized brewery that has been open since 2014 and has become a staple in the Georgetown community. All of our beer is brewed on the same property as our taproom, where patrons can enjoy our beers and see where it's being made.
The Taproom
Our taproom is a place where beer lovers can relax and catch up with friends. When you visit the Lowercase Brewing taproom, you have the option to order any of our thirteen beers on tap, or we offer a few in cans. If it's your first time visiting us, don't be afraid to ask to sample any of the craft beers. We encourage patrons to sample our beers so they find one they'll love. If you're still unsure after sampling a beer or two, we'll gladly answer any questions you may have to help you choose.
We have seating available inside the taproom and on our outdoor patio. Whenever the weather gets a little cooler, you can still enjoy your craft beer outside if you want because we have a heated patio area to keep you comfortable. If you're craving a local beer but can't leave your furry friend or kids at home, you're more than welcome to bring them along with you.
Locally Crafted Beers
We focus our brewing mostly on balanced brews, lagers, and pilsners. No matter what style of craft beer is your favorite, you'll find something you love here. While we have a definite focus on lagers and pilsners, we have a variety of other craft beers such as IPAs, stouts, and pale ales for you to enjoy. Here's a breakdown of our locally brewed beers you'll find at our taproom and brewery:
Pale Ale: Approachable and simple
Strata IPA: Tropical, fruity, and hoppy
New England Style Lager: Hazy, hoppy, and citrus
Italian Pilsner: Light, floral, and crisp
German Pilsner: Light, malty, and crisp
Mexican Lager: Light and crisp
Dortmunder: Light and malty
"Longbutt" American Lager: Light and refreshing
Heirloom Corn Lager: Light and flavorful
ESB (Eisbock): Amber and malty
Extra Stout: Dry and roasted
One of our most popular craft beers is the "Longbutt" American Lager. When prohibition ended, Seattle lost its primary brewery that brewed a local favorite lager. When we were building our business, we thought there was a need for another fantastic local lager. Hence, the "Longbutt" American Lager was born.
Award-Winning Craft Beers
Sometimes it's okay to toot your own horn. Lowercase Brewing is an award-winning brewery in Georgetown, and we're proud of all our accomplishments. We've been open for less than a decade and have won a number of awards for our delicious craft beers and our brewery in general. In 2019, we won the Mid-Size Brewery of the Year award from the Washington Beer Awards. We also took home six other awards from the Washington Beer Awards that year.
If you're looking to taste some of our award-winning beers, the first up would be our "Longbutt" American Lager. We took home first place for this American light lager, and it's a hit among craft beer lovers. Our Mexican Lager also took home first place for the category of other American lagers. ESB is a two-time first place winner of ours, and we also placed first in the category for Belgian-style Witbier. Our Dorkmunder won first place for Pro-Am, and we took home second place for our collaboration with Floating Bridge Brewing called the Forbidden Rice Lager.
Bites to Enjoy With Your Beer
It's natural to get a little hungry when you're enjoying a nice cold beer. We don't offer a full-service kitchen, but we won't let you go hungry! Lowercase Brewing offers a limited menu so you can stay and relax without having to cut your time short to go eat. We always offer complimentary popcorn for our patrons. You just need to let us know you would like some. We offer other snacks and small bites to enjoy as well. Our pub mix is a popular choice, and it includes pretzels, edamame, garlic chips, nuts, and wasabi peas.
If you're looking for something a little more filling than popcorn or pub mix, we have some options. The landjager board consists of a spicy german sausage stick with german mustard and sauerkraut. You can't go wrong with our large pretzel served with our housemade beer cheese to dip it in; it pairs well with almost every one of our craft beers. A unique dish that we offer is Okazu Pan which is a breaded and fried Japanese pastry. We offer three different flavors of the pastry. Feel free to ask us what will taste best with your beer.
COVID-19 Safety Precautions
We live in a different world than we did a year ago, and we've done our best to adapt to our changing world. Safety is our top priority, so we're taking all the precautions we can to ensure our employees' and customers' safety. We have opened our taproom again but with limited hours due to COVID-19. Even though the hours are shorts, we're happy to be serving local beer in person again. You can visit us on Fridays from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m, Saturdays from noon until 8 p.m, and Sundays from noon until 5 p.m.
Of course, we understand if you're still not comfortable having one of our beers in our taproom. Just because you choose not to enjoy a beer in person with us, we still want everyone who wants our beer to have that option. We offer delivery of our beers through a delivery service and to-go cans, and 32-ounce growlers. We're also following all reopening guidelines that require face masks to be worn at all times when not seated. We're encouraging everyone to follow social distancing guidelines and to keep their parties relatively small.
Whether you're a resident of this spectacular city or a tourist, the Seattle craft beer scene is something you'll want to experience firsthand. Not only will you be enjoying a delicious beer, but you'll be supporting a local, small business. Next time you're in Seattle, head over to Georgetown and visit us at Lowercase Brewing for some locally crafted, award-winning beer.
